Marsha Greenfield received the honorary degree, Doctor of Education and delivered the convocation address to the graduates of Nipissing’s Schulich School of Education, Intermediate/Senior division and Master of Education degree program on Thursday, June 10, 2010.
Martha Greenfield is a founding member and past co-ordinator of the Nipissing Transition House. A former student of Nipissing University, Greenfield has worked diligently throughout her career on women’s issues and specifically issues related to violence against women. In 1996, she was appointed to the Ontario Criminal Injuries Compensation Board, and served as Chair of that organization from 1998 to 2008. Greenfield is the recipient of the Amelia Rising Ten Year Anniversary Award, the Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Canada, and the 1986 Woman of the Year Award from the North Bay Professional Women’s Club.
