Employees working on campus who are symptomatic (regardless of their vaccination status) with any of the COVID-19 symptoms listed on the Ministry of Health’s website must not be present on campus. Should the employee develop any symptoms while they are on campus, the supervisor should advise the employee to:
- Immediately return home and self isolate.
- Complete the Ministry of Health’s Self Assessment and follow the recommendations based on their COVID-19 self-assessment results.
Employees who are fully vaccinated are required to self isolate for a minimum of five (5) days following the onset of symptoms. Employees should remain in self isolation until their symptoms are improving for at least 24hours or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms.
Employees who are not fully vaccinated or who have a documented immunocompromising condition are required to self isolate for a minimum of ten (10) days following the onset of symptoms. Employees should remain in self isolation until their symptoms are improving for at least 24 hours or 48 hours if gastrointestinal symptoms.
Note: Regardless of vaccination status, employees are required to self isolate if:
- They have a confirmed COVID-19 case or have been tested and are awaiting results;
- They are symptomatic with any symptoms related to COVID-19;
- They reside with an individual who has a confirmed case of COVID-19;
- They reside with an individual who is symptomatic with any symptoms related to COVID-19
- They have been exposed to someone who has recently returned from international travel (including the US) who is not exempt from the Quarantine Act;
- They have been directed to self-isolate by public health.
Fully vaccinated employees who have been identified by public health/health professional as having been exposed to an individual (not residing in their dwelling) who is COVID-19 positive must self monitor for symptoms for 10 days. Should symptoms arise, they should then self isolate as indicated above.
Employees who require self isolation due to COVID-19 symptoms are required to have two (2) negative Rapid Antigen Tests prior to resuming regular duties. The Rapid Antigen Tests will be provided by the University at no cost to the employee.
