Beard new Lakers team captain

The Nipissing Lakers Men’s hockey team is pleased to announce the selection of Brodie Beard as the new team captain. Beard was appointed to the captaincy by his teammates.

Beard spent four years with the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League and two years at Carleton University before joining the Lakers last season. He was instrumental to the Lakers success in their first season.

“Brodie is a perfect example of the type of student athlete our program looks to recruit. He is passionate about hockey and about school,” said Lakers head coach, Mike McParland. “He offers the team strong internal leadership both on and off the ice.”

The team has also selected two new alternate captains for the 2010-11 seasons. Last year’s OUA East Rookie of the year, Andrew Marcoux, and Ryan Maunu will serve as assistant captains. Dan Watt will continue in his role as assistant captain.
