Tailgate party leading the festivities for Homecoming

Polish up that tailgate and get ready for some fun!  Nipissing University is hosting the second annual Tailgate Party and Lakers Hockey Game on October 23, from 4 - 6:30 p.m. in front of Memorial Gardens, right before the Lakers face off against the Ottawa Gee Gees at 7 p.m. 

The festivities are all a part of Homecoming Weekend, which runs October 22 – 24.

Last year’s tailgate party was a tremendous success, with more than 350 people attending.  They were treated to one of the most exciting hockey games of the year as the Lakers battled back with four third period goals to send the game into sudden death overtime, and finally a shootout.

This year’s party features a barbecue dinner, music, games, special giveaways and a ticket to the game. Attendees and their children can also get a photo with beloved mascot Louie the Laker.  The cost to attend the Tailgate Party is $15 per person.

Other events taking place at the university for Homecoming Weekend include: varsity soccer and volleyball games, a pep rally and barbecue, a pancake breakfast at the Lakers soccer games on Saturday afternoon, a book launch and breakfast with the presidents.
