Nipissing welcoming prospective students
Nipissing University will welcome hundreds of prospective students, their friends and families to North Bay this week as the university hosts the annual March Open House, March 12, 14 and 16.March Open House is an opportunity for students and their guests to tour the campus, speak to faculty and staff about academic programs and visit Nipissing’s residences. It includes question and answer sessions for parents and students, as well as tours geared toward specific programs. Interested students will have their questions answered concerning admissions, academic programs and administration.
“We attract students from all over the province for March Open House, and for our regular weekend tours,” said Lori-Ann Beckford, assistant registrar, liaison and Open House organizer. “Many students are coming from the North Bay area as well.”
The university has added a number of new facilities recently — the new Library, the athletics centre expansion and the research wing — that are expected to have a positive impact on prospective students.
“We’ve been hearing a lot of excellent feedback on the new facilities. Nipissing has really grown recently and I think some students, including local students, have been pleasantly surprised by what we offer for their undergraduate experience,” said Beckford. “March Open House is a terrific way for students to learn about us. Prospective students will be able to see what Nipissing has to offer and determine if Nipissing is the right fit for them. In addition to the new facilities, small classes and meaningful interaction with the faculty are the hallmarks that attract many students to our university.”
Registrations are still open for the Friday, March 16, Open House. To register, please go towww.nipissingu.ca/openhouse, or call 705-474-3450 ext 4517.
