Missed chances burn Lakers men’s hockey
The Nipissing Lakers men’s hockey team is hoping the past four games are just a small speed bump on the road to a successful season.The Lakers suffered two more losses this past weekend, dropping a pair of games to Ottawa-based teams.
Friday night, the Lakers were topped by the Carleton Ravens 6-2 in the Lakers’ home opener at Memorial Gardens.
Dorian Peca and Dane Horvat were the goal scorers for the Lakers.
Saturday, the Lakers were topped by the Ottawa Gee-Gees by a final of 8-1.
Kevin Rebelo scored the Lakers’ lone goal late in the third period.
Lakers head coach Mike McParland said his team missed some chances early in the game and it came back to haunt them as the Gee-Gees gained momentum and continued to find the back of the net.
Looking for their first win of the young OUA season, the Lakers host Queen’s Friday night and UOIT Saturday night.
Game time for both games is 7 p.m. at Memorial Gardens. ??
