Speers commits to Lakers soccer
Nipissing Lakers men’s soccer coach Carlo DeVuono is pleased to announce the commitment of Connor Speers who will attend Nipissing University in the fall of 2013.Speers a 5’11” midfielder is enrolling in the Bachelor of Physical Health and Education program. For the past two seasons, Speers has captained his Georgetown Soccer Club to the South Region League Cup Premiere Division Championship.
Speers come from a very athletic family; his father captained a top Canadian university soccer program while his mother was a former Olympian in field hockey.
"I look forward to becoming a part of an upcoming, competitive soccer program at Nipissing," said Speers.
Coach DeVuono is looking to build on a very successful first season, which saw a return to the OUA playoffs and he believes that Speers will be a good fit.
"Connor’s skill and attitude will make him a great fit here at Nipissing University,” said DeVuono. “The coaching staff looks forward to working with him for the duration of his university career."
