Lakers men’s basketball head coach Chris Cheng is excited about offering an event like this.
“This is a great opportunity for our program and Lakers Athletics to engage with the community. The day will be a lot of fun,” he said. “I think the kids will enjoy what we have in store for them.”
Both programs will have skill stations, mini-games, co-operative games and prizes to giveaway.
Lakers women’s volleyball head coach Marc LaRochelle echoed Cheng’s comments, explaining how important it is to work with the city and the citizens of North Bay and create a strong relationship.
“We as a volleyball staff are looking forward to family day and giving back to the community,” he said. “It is very important for us to spend time on the court with young people and growing the game we love.”
Nipissing Lakers director of athletics Vito Castiglione said hosting Family Fun Day is an opportunity to show off what Nipissing and Lakers Athletics offers.
“Camps like these are a great way to give back to the community and also showcase our facilities – our Robert J Surtees Athletic Centre – in the process,” he explained.
