Learn how to support students in distress
Throughout the Winter semester, Nipissing’s Office of Student Development and Services is continuing to offer presentations to faculty, staff, and student staff about how to best support students in distress.
Following the initial programannouncement in October, 17 presentations were offered to faculty and staff groups during the Fall semester and 316 folders were shared. The office is pleased to offer three open presentations in the coming months for those who were unable to attend the Fall presentations.
Presentations are scheduled for:
Thursday, February 4, at noon in room A259
Wednesday, March 9, at noon in room A252
Tuesday, April 5, at noon in room A252
These 45-minute presentations will include a discussion on student mental health in Canada and at Nipissing University, as well as information about how to recognize, respond to, and refer a student in distress. Participants will also be provided a copy of the Supporting Students in Distress resource folder.
The presentations are open to any faculty, staff, or student staff members at Nipissing. No sign-up is needed, interested participants can simply show up.
