About
Diploma in nursing from the Halifax Infirmary School of Nursing in 1980. BScN from Laurentian University, Sudbury, in 1994, MN from Athabasca University, Athabasca, Alberta, in 2006, and PhD in Education (specialization in Nursing Education) from Capella University, Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2015.

Tammie’s clinical experience encompasses acute medicine to rural and remote nursing (labor and delivery, and outpatient), surgery, critical care and emergency nursing and delivery of nursing education in private and public institutions. She was one of the first teletriage nurses hired in Ontario in 1999, and later helped bring Telehealth Ontario Nurse Triage Telephone Line to existence from 2001-2006 as the education manager, creating the education requirements for new programs. Prior to this she taught in several college programs in mental health and surgery. Tammie has consulted with the Victoria Order of Nurses on education programs for community workers in far northern reserves. Currently she acts as consultant in the assessment of internationally educated nurses in collaboration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Tammie is an advocate of innovative learning technologies for education - both her MN, PhD and Nurse Educator certification were completed in an online environment.

She is a founding member of the Ontario Simulation Alliance and CANSim (Canadian Alliance of Nurse Educators Using Simulation) to create and promote best practices in simulation scenario design and education. She co-created the curricular framework of the Scholar Practitioner Program, recently granted full 7-year accreditation by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing. She is a member or active in several nursing organizations and associations: The Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (past board member, and current chapter VP), Sigma Theta Tau International (Lambda Pi chapter), International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation & Learning (INACSL), SimOne, and the for Simulation in Healthcare.

She has completed several regional, provincial, national, and international conference presentations on nursing education.
