Convocation: the highlight of the year
Last week was the highlight of the calendar year at Nipissing’s North Bay campus, as the university held six convocation ceremonies with almost 1,500 students receiving their degrees after years of hard work. The university honoured seven outstanding individuals with honorary degrees during convocation: Dr. Charles Pascal, Alton Bigwin, Grand Chief Stan Beardy, Suzanne Brooks, David Liddle, Dr. Mark Tremblay and Sister Priscilla Solomon.
It was a special pleasure to witness the first ever graduating class from Nipissing’s innovative Bachelor of Physical Health and Education.
Convocation for the regional campus in Brantford, for students enrolled concurrently in both Wilfrid Laurier’s Bachelor of Arts and Nipissing’s Bachelor of Education, will take place on June 21 at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts. Keith Lickers will receive an honorary degree at that ceremony.
Convocation webcasts will be available soon, until then, here’s a slide show (in the window on the left) created by Carol Szabicot to help us all relive the special moments.
