Coulthard, DeMarco named Nipissing’s Top Athletes

Student volleyball stars Scott Coulthard and Lucia DeMarcowere named the 2011/12 Nipissing University Athletes of the Year recently during the 19th Annual Varsity Athletic Banquet.

Coulthard, a third-year 6’3 left side hitter from Wingham, was
named the Al Carfagnini Male Athlete of the Year for co-captaining his team to
record breaking heights. The Lakers men’s volleyball team set many new bench
marks including a 17-1 regular season record and an OCAA provincial silver
medal, the first such medal in the men’s program history. The men were also
ranked in the country’s top ten for most of the season climbing as high as
number two in the nation. Coulthard averaged 2.8 ppg game, was named an OCAA
first team all-star, an OCAA Championship All-star and represented Nipissing
University at the OCAA All-Star game.
