Nipissing hosting national ASAC 2014 Conference

Nipissing University is pleased to announce that they will host the annual Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) 2014 conference in Muskoka at Deerhurst Resort, May 9 – 13.Nipissing’s successful bid to host the conference was announced yesterday, during the current ASAC conference, taking place in St. John’s Newfoundland.  In 2013 the conference will be hosted by Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta.
The theme of the 42nd ASAC conference in Muskoka is Sustainability and Innovation in Work and Leisure.  It will attract about 500 faculty members and graduate students from university business schools across Canada and around the world.  This is the first time Nipissing has hosted the ASAC conference and the first time the conference has been held in Northern Ontario.
“The success of Nipissing’s bid speaks to the continued evolution of our School of Business,” said Dr. John Nadeau, conference co-chair and associate professor of marketing at Nipissing.  “We’ve got a terrific faculty engaged in leading-edge research in sustainability, innovation, image use, and sport and tourism management, who are fully committed to providing an exceptional experience for our students. The conference will provide a forum for idea exchanges about management research, teaching and practice in Canada while being surrounded by the beauty of Northern Ontario.  It’s going to be a great conference.”
“Nipissing has grown significantly in recent years, guided by an aspiration to be a more comprehensive institution to better serve our students and our regions. Hosting ASAC 2014 in Muskoka, where we have a fantastic campus, is a great opportunity for both Nipissing and ASAC to gain significant public exposure,” said Dr. Rick Vanderlee, dean of applied and professional schools at Nipissing.
“We're very pleased with Nipissing’s proposal and the commitment of the team led by John Nadeau to host a top-notch conference in a congenial setting,” said Céleste Brotheridge, ASAC past-president 2012-13. “Deerhust provides a terrific backdrop for sharing perspectives and research, while renewing relationships and connections within and across disciplines.”
