SIFE Nipissing turning on the taps
SIFE Nipissing is unveiling their latest project and they’re looking to get everyone thinking green and blue…green as in environmentally friendly, and blue as in water.
The campaign is titled Think Green: Back to the Tap, and it has the following goals:
- Raise awareness about environmental cost of bottled water
- Evaluate and offer suggestions to improve water fountains at Nipissing
- Raise enough funds to sponsor a 'water bottle filling station' donated by SIFE
- Approach the City of North Bay to discuss implementation of water bottle filling stations at the waterfront
SIFE-Nipissing team members will also be promoting and selling the Water Bobble: a green alternative to bottled water, outside the main cafeteria from January 30 - February 17. The Water Bobble is a stylish, reusable bottle that filters water as you drink, using a replaceable carbon filter. When water passes through the filter, the carbon removes chlorine and organic contaminants. It is intended for use with municipal tap water.
For more information on the Water Bobble, check out their website.
As well, SIFE Nipissing is asking everyone to drop off any empty water bottles at their drop off station in the main cafeteria. They’ll be collecting old bottles until January 30.
