Lakers women’s hockey drop a close one

Despite surrendering just one goal, the Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team suffered their second loss of the season this past Friday night.On the road facing the Queen’s Gaels, the Lakers turned in a solid defensive effort, but dropped a 1-0 decision, to put them at 1-2-0 so far in the season.
Jackie Rochefort, making her second start of the season, was very strong in net, making 24 saves on 25 shots. The one goal that did beat her turned out to be enough to give the Gaels the win.
After starting the season with a 3-2 win over Brock, the Lakers have fallen in their last two games, each by only one goal.
The Lakers hit the road again next weekend, heading to Windsor for a Friday night game and then they’re off to take on Western Saturday afternoon.
