Nipissing Nordic welcomes Thomsen D’Hont
Nipissing Nordic is pleased to welcome Thomsen D’Hont to the team. D’Hont hails from Yellowknife, NWT, and will continue to represent the North West Territories while stepping up to the start line for the Lakers this coming season.D’Hont has made the cut to represent Canada and Nipissing at this year’s FISU World University Games, coming off of a 2012/13 season that saw him qualify for a World Cup start. D’Hont shows promise in the middle distance races and has proven capacity as a sprinter, which will help the Lakers’ prospects when it comes to the team sprint at this year’s OUA Championships.
“I chose Nipissing for many reasons. Not least of them were small class sizes, having running trails and ski trails right on campus, other strong athletes on the team and the opportunity to work with a strong ski program and a young, enthusiastic coach,” said D’Hont. “I aim to represent Nipissing and Canada well at the World University Games this December in Italy. I also hope to prove to other skiers in Canada who may be putting off their education in order to pursue skiing full-time, that attending school at the same time is a viable option in Canada.”
