TheNipissing University Student Union (NUSU)is the official body representing the student point of view at Nipissing University.  As part of its ongoing commitment to academic excellence and social growth, NUSU deals with many aspects of student life on campus.
?NUSU has been working diligently to ensure the up coming academic year is exhilarating and eventful.  NUSU executives have begun their term in office and are gearing up for an exciting year. Their positions are as follows: Ian Hall, President; Madison Byblow, VP External; Jordan Andrews, VP Internal; Andrew Deugo, VP Student Life; Ruth Cortez-Alvarez, VP Satellite Muskoka Campus.

NUSU is enthusiastic about two fundraising opportunities for Cystic Fibrosis Research over the summer.  In July NUSU will be hosting a baseball tournament and in August a Shine Gala at The Wall Bar & Grillhouse.

In addition, NUSU has been planning to welcome students to the next chapter of their life at University with Frosh Week happening September 1 – 7.  This year's Frosh theme is Frosh Wars: Through The Ages.  Each team is named after a theme that has been used in previous years.

For this year’s Frosh, NUSU will be adding social and educational modules ton financial literacy, sexual violence and assault prevention to create a more balanced week.

Frosh Week culminates in Shinerama, a national student fundraising event to combat Cystic Fibrosis.  NUSU’s goal for Shinerama this year is to raise $30,000.  Shinerama is Canada's largest post-secondary fundraiser involving almost 60 university and college campuses across Canada. To achieve their goal, NUSU will be having a car wash on Saturday, September 5, at locations all over North Bay, Sturgeon Falls and Callander.

Currently NUSU is coordinating with departments within the university such as Student Development Services and the Office of Aboriginal Initiatives to determine how to better serve the students and develop new programming.

The food bank located in the NUSU office is stocked and ready to use so for summer students.  The office hours are Monday-Friday, 9a.m. to 5p.m. The office will be closed June 8th-12th.

If any department or person would like to have a meeting with the executives to discuss the upcoming year or would like to email them with regards to ideas please emailadminassistant@nusu.com. ?
