Nursing grads reunite after a decade
A special reunion took place on campus last weekend featuring the 2006 graduating class of Bachelor of Science in Nursing students. That class was the second ever to graduate from the collaborative program and marked the first year that students were able to enroll in the degree program.
The reunion featured six graduates plus their families, and three faculty members.
“I wanted to organize this event because we were such a close knit group and I really wanted to reconnect with people and see what different avenues of nursing everyone had pursued professionally,” said Tiffany Tayler. “People are working in an array of fields, some have gone on to do their masters, some work bedside or in patient surgery, or the Emergency Room. We have a group that work in public health, one nurse is a research assistant and one works as a nursing lab technician at the university. It shows you the multitude of paths you can go down in nursing.”
“Nipissing gave me a good foundation of knowledge to start my nursing career. The university has grown quite a bit, I love the looks of the new library. Nipissing is truly a gem that only a small group of people have the honour to be a part of. It is unique in its small size, but that is what makes it so great for so many as they want to be part of that close knit community.”
