Nursing workshop enhancing simulation

Nursing educators and graduate students from within Ontario and across Canada are on campus this week participating in the third annual Simulation Design and Facilitation Workshop.The workshop features practical time working in the cutting-edge Canadore College/Nipissing University Collaborative Nursing Program Simulation Labs.
Participants are working to design clinical simulation scenarios and interprofessional education simulation scenarios to be added to the Ontario Simulation Alliance (OSA)/CAN Sim repository of peer reviewed scenarios. The OSA/CAN Sim scenarios are unique in that they allow students and faculty to evaluate simulation performance. The OSA/CAN Sim is a network formed to support nursing educators in the integration of simulation for teaching and learning across settings to advance patient safety. The OSA/CAN Sim serves as a forum for collaboration, partnership and networking throughout the province of Ontario and beyond.
Founding president, Dr. Deborah Tregunno from Queen's University is facilitating the workshop with organizers Dr. Tammie McParland and Ms. Laurie Peachey from Nipissing University. Also on the agenda as speakers are founding members and co-presidents of the OSA/CAN Sim Dr. Jane Tyerman from Trent/Fleming's School of Nursing and Dr. Marian Luctkar-Flude from Queen's University. Rounding out the agenda of speakers are Ms. Leslie Graham from Durham/University of Ontario Institute of Technology and Dr. Rylan Egan from Queen's University.
The Simulation Design and Facilitation Workshop is held on the Nipissing University/Canadore College campus from Tuesday, May 23 to Friday, May 26.
