Heritage Fair at Nipissing University
Nipissing University is pleased to host the North Bay Regional Heritage Fair, Friday, May 11, in the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre.
The Heritage Fair brings together local students from grades 4 – 8 to share their projects showcasing the history and heritage of our local community, province and country. Students will also participate in a variety of interactive workshops that will focus on developing skills for further historical inquiry.
Students are attending the Heritage Fair from the following schools: Alliance, WJ Fricker, St. Hubert, Our Lady of Sorrows, St. Luke, Issachar Christian Academy, St. Francis, and the Sudbury Christian Academy.
Opening ceremonies take place at 9 a.m. The fair is free of charge and is open to the public from 9:15 – 11 a.m. The afternoon portion of the fair includes workshops and award presentations, which take place at 1:45 p.m.
The Heritage Fairs Program encourages students to explore Canadian heritage in a dynamic, hands-on learning environment. The featured projects will be in English or in French. Students use the medium of their choice to tell stories about Canadian heroes, legends, milestones and achievements - and present the results of their research at a public exhibition. Since its beginning in 1993, the Fairs Program has grown to include more than 275,000 students across Canada each year.
