NU Reads camp for kids
NU Reads Summer Literacy Day Camp is set to open the book on another fantastic summer of nurturing a love of literacy in children through reading aloud, one-on-one discussions and activities.
The camp incorporates all aspects of literacy: reading, writing, representing, viewing, listening and speaking. Organizers strive to set themes of an open-ended nature that illustrate how literacy is all around us, and can be both fun and educational. For example, our week-two camp, titled Lights, Camera, Read!, focuses on technology and movie-making. Campers will have the opportunity to visit Canadore College to use a green screen in a real television production studio amd they'll also have a chance to try creating their own stop-motion mini-film.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily from July 9 to August 10.
There are two camp options this year: Weekly Themed Camps (Ages 7-12) and Play & Learn Camps (Ages 4-6).
Spaces will to fill up fast, so register now to get in on the action!
