What is Giving Tuesday?
Giving Tuesday is a global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. Considered the “opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals rally for their favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for Giving Tuesday.
This year, Giving Tuesday is on November 30th, and we are encouraging our Nipissing community to support our students through our scholarships and bursaries fund.
Did you know:
- 22% of Nipissing students are first generation learners
- 68% of Nipissing students access OSAP funding to help fund their education (that's 12% higher than the provincial average)
Nipissing University provides over $3.7 million in scholarships, bursaries and awards to students to provide access to education that otherwise may not be available. This wouldn't be possible without the ongoing, generous support of donors like you.

Our Challenge to Alumni
This Giving Tuesday, we are challenging all alumni to consider donating $100 to student scholarships, bursaries and awards. With over 40,000 alumni worldwide, your donations will have a huge impact on students' lives.
Who does my donation help?
University is expensive. One year of studying and living on campus can cost anywhere between $17,828 – $20,531 including tuition, fees, residence, meals, books and other supplies.
Your donation will directly support our students by offsetting the costs of their education so they can focus on achieving their academic potential.

How do I add a temporary profile picture on Facebook?
To upload a temporary profile picture:
- Click your profile picture in the top right of Facebook.
- Click in the bottom right of your profile picture.
- Select Upload Photo or Add Frame.
- Click Make Temporary.
- Select when to switch back to your previous profile picture.
- Click Save.
Note: Your profile picture is always public. Once a profile picture expires, it will still be visible in your profile pictures album.
