Chief Couchie awarded Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal

Nipissing University is pleased to offer congratulations to Nipissing First Nation Chief Marianna Couchie, who was recently awarded a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.
Chief Couchie, who received an honorary degree from Nipissing University in 2004, has been selected by her people for three consecutive terms.  She is sought often for her leadership, advice and guidance from the province as well as from Assembly of First Nations National Chief Shawn Atleo.

She was presented the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal at the annual Nipissing First Nation membership meeting.  The award was a complete surprise to Chief Couchie however, much planning had gone into the presentation and her family was present to join her in celebration.
