Ontario Universities' Fair on this week

It’s a critical time for university recruitment in Ontario this week, with more than 140,000 prospective students and their supporters visiting the Ontario Universities' Fair in downtown Toronto to learn more about Ontario universities and Nipissing University is ready.

Nipissing is sending a team of 67 people to share insights on how and why this university is such a fantastic place to learn and live.  The team is made up of 18 faculty members, 20 students and 29 staffers representing recruiters, executives, admissions personnel and other key staff in various departments from financial aid and education placements to lab instructors.

“We’ll be making one-on-one connections with students to discover personal interests and try to match those interests with what Nipissing offers. The personal touch and the sense of community that exists at Nipissing are some of our defining features, and very attractive to many students,” said Valerie Edmunds, senior student recruitment officer. “It’s our goal to get to know students so we can show them why Nipissing may be the best choice for their university career.”

One of the new features for incoming students to Nipissing is The Nipissing Promise, which was announced March 2018.  The first initiative of its kind in an Ontario University and in alignment with the University’s focus on student success, the promise states that if a student is unable to secure a job in their field following graduation, Nipissing will provide one year of tuition-free university study.

The fair takes place September 28 - 30 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

The free three-day event gives next year's university hopefuls all the information they need to make an informed decision about where to apply, with first-hand accounts about university programs and campus life from professors, staff and current students.
