As a literacy program for children between the ages of 4-11 in North Bay, we hope to encourage literacy in children’s everyday lives! Doing things such as singing, reading recipes, writing lists, and reading signs are all ways that we use literacy everyday!
What is NU Reads?
We are a program dedicated to the development of literacy skills in children and the community through cross-curricular, authentic and sustainable literacy experiences and practices in a nurturing, enthusiastic and inclusive environment.

- Created, led and managed by Nipissing University Schulich School of Education students
- Theme-centered programming, rooted in authentic literacy
