Welcome to the NU Centre for Literacy, part of the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University.
The Centre for Literacy is currently chaired by Tara-Lynn Scheffel, Elizabeth Thorn Research Chair, and provides a forum for members of the Schulich School of Education who are interested in collaboratively pursuing language and literacy research, education, and practice with school and community partners.

In Memoriam
As a founding member of the Nipissing University Faculty of Education, Dr. Elizabeth Thorn dedicated her life to the promotion of literacy and inspired educators around the world with her wisdom, passion and commitment to language education. The Centre for Literacy has been established in connection with The Elizabeth Thorn Chair in Literacy, created in 2002.
