Get ready for the fall semester

Frosh

The hustle and bustle of students returning to school or beginning their university career is on the immediate horizon and soon campus will be buzzing with activity.

Orientation and courses for students in the consecutive Bachelor of Education program in North Bay begin on Monday, August 29, and the first placement for those students runs September 6 – 9.

In Brantford, courses for students in the Laurier – Nipissing Concurrent Education program  begin on September 12.

In North Bay, Frosh week activities start on Saturday, September 3, with the Forget Unpacking Party at the Wall.  NUSU has more than a week of activities planned to help students connect and get acquainted with the campus and the city before classes begin on September 12.

Official opening ceremonies for Country Frosh Week 2011 start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday September 6.  That day will see students enjoying two barbecues, competing in Dolly Parton’s Inflatable Games at 1 p.m., before taking in a movie under the stars at Lower Residence and then heading to the Wall for a Graffiti Pub.

On Wednesday, Frosh festivities include a performance of the play Single and Sexy in the theatre at 9:30 a.m. before everyone heads to the North Bay Waterfront for Bronco Buckin’ Beach Day.

Thursday’s highlights include the Mud Tossin’ Hick Olympics at 2 p.m., while Friday brings the annual Amazing Race North Bay at 4 p.m.

You’ll want to keep an eye out for students all over the city on Saturday as they’ll be raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis through Shinerama. Be generous and help Nipissing students exceed expectations for this worthy event.

Sunday includes a food drive for the student food bank before wrapping up the festivities with a party at the Wall…then classes on Monday.
