Nipissing Student Entrepreneurs

This summer Nipissing students Mary Kate Crowley and Nicole Peltier were granted $1500.00 from The Ministry of Economic Trade and Development to start their own businesses. On July 15th, the 3rd Annual Summer Company Tradeshow and Fundraising BBQ took place, which provided the students an opportunity to showcase their hard work.
Peltier, who is taking Environmental Geography, applied the skills she learned in class and turned them into her own business called EcoLogic Janitorial. The company specializes in industrial, commercial, and residential cleaning services. “Many other janitorial companies use hazardous chemicals that are toxic to humans and the environment. The only products that we use are certified by EcoLogo and GreenSeal, which are two of North America's most recognized labels assuring buyers that the product has been thoroughly tested to meet strict environmental standards and sustainability,” said Peltier.
Crowley is a Nursing student who loves to paint and her business, Mare’s Interior Painting, is in high demand. Her company assisted Firstonsite Restoration with the painting of the Nurse Practitioner’s office that will be opening this summer. “I planned on advertising more, but I am already booked solid for the summer,” said Crowley. “In summers previous I had thought of starting my own interior painting business, and so the summer before I graduated, I decided to go for it.”
Both of them have created their own personalized websites for their businesses. If you would like to contact them, you can find EcoLogic Janitorial atwww.ecologicjanitorial.com  and Mare’s Interior Painting atwww.maresinteriorpainting.vpweb.ca.
