FedNor internships at Nipissing
Nipissing University can attest first-hand to the benefits of FedNor funding.Michael Saad and Luke Swanek have been excelling in their roles as Economic Development Interns (funded by FedNor) in the Office of External Relations and Advancement for almost a year now, and have become integral members of our team.Michael recently had an opportunity to thank the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister for FedNor, and local MP Jay Aspin, for the youth opportunities provided through FedNor.
“This position has enabled me to work closely with not only Nipissing staff, faculty and students, but also to engage with community stakeholders and university supporters on a number of initiatives,” Michael says.“Such exposure to Nipissing has shown me how important the university is not only to North Bay and area, but to Northern Ontario in general. It is easy to see the value in working at such an institution.”
“What is great about funding support from organizations such as FedNor is it enables a more accessible pathway to gain a permanent career,” says Michael. “Such positions provide tremendous opportunities specifically for youth and new grads to demonstrate their skills in larger organizations such as Nipissing University. This can often be a challenge for people like myself, looking to gain professional experience.”
