Muskoka Arts and Culture film series presents Heater

Nipissing Muskoka’s Culture and the Arts program will screen a special presentation of Heater tonight, including a Q&A with writer-director Terrance Odette.Tonight, at 7 p.m., the organizers have a special, feature presentation of the award-winning Canadian film, Heater, including a Q & A with writer-director Terrance Odette. The movie has been critically acclaimed by such publications as Variety, Maclean’s, The Globe and Mail, and The Village Voice, which called it a “Beckett-like tour de force.”  Set in a snowy Winnipeg just before Christmas, Heater tells the story of two homeless men who try to return a stolen base-board heater for a refund, so they can buy a pack of smokes.  It stars acclaimed Canadian actors Gary Farmer and Stephen Ouimette.
Next up for the film series is Where the Wild Things Are, on Wednesday, March 28.  The series will wrap up on Wednesday, April 25 with The Eclipse (2010).
All screenings take place at 7 p.m. in the lecture theatre of Nipissing’s Muskoka campus (125 Wellington St.).
The film series was introduced earlier this year.  The first series of films have been organized around the theme of literature. Literature comes in many forms and has been inspirational to filmmakers since the earliest narrative films were made more than a century ago.
