Near North Voices Choral Finale
Near North Voices Choir concludes its successful Concert Series, Sharing Our Choral Art, on Sunday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church, with a concert featuring works by Leonard Bernstein and Canada's Sarah Quartel."North Bay has not traditionally been a stop for touring choirs. Our goal this year has been to broaden our community's understanding and enjoyment of choral music by bringing a world of choirs to North Bay", said Dr. Adam Adler, Near North Voices' artistic director. "In doing this, we've also given our own singers an opportunity to learn and grow from working with visiting singers and conductors."
The April 1 concert includes a wide mix of choral works, but features The Chichester Psalms, a major work by the legendary composer and New York Philharmonic conductor Leonard Bernstein, and Snow Angel ?by contemporary Canadian composer Sarah Quartel. Quartel's compositions have been performed worldwide by such noted choral ensembles as the National Youth Choir of Canada, and professional ensembles including The Nathaniel Dett Chorale and world-renowned Finnish a cappella group Rajaton.
Tickets are available at the door and at Gulliver's Quality Books and Toys on Main St. They cost $15 for adults and $10 for students (with valid student I.D).
