Paine-Mantha not seeking new term
Vicky Paine-Mantha, Nipissing University’s vice-president finance, administration and strategic capital projects, has decided that she will not seek a new term when her current one ends on September 1, 2012. “Over the past seven years, Vicky has made a great contribution to Nipissing’s strategic growth,” said Nipissing president Lesley Lovett-Doust. “She has set us on a path of excellence in terms of facilities, resources and fiscal stability; we will miss her creativity, initiative and outstanding commitment to making Nipissing better and stronger every day.”
Paine-Mantha began her engagement with Nipissing as a member of the board of governors from 2000 to 2005. In September 2005, she began her new role as vice-president finance and administration.
She was instrumental in organizing the financing, design and construction process for over $80 million worth of infrastructure for 11 significant capital projects that benefit the three communities that Nipissing serves. Paine-Mantha also managed two major land acquisitions and oversaw countless other projects that have provided for the current and future needs of faculty, staff and students.
“I am very proud of the growth of Nipissing University and the new facilities we have built in the quest to provide better educational facilities and learning environments for our students and staff, without assuming a large and burdensome debt,” said Paine-Mantha. “With the recent completion of the research wing, the Harris Learning Library and Phase One of the expansion of the Robert J. Surtees Athletics Complex, as well as the new residence in Muskoka, the university is now well positioned to attract students, faculty and staff who will find Nipissing an outstanding place for scholarship and learning.”
Lovett-Doust added, “Vicky has built a strong support team, one that is highly responsive to the needs of students, faculty and staff. This provides a good foundation for her successor. We are truly grateful that she has contributed to Nipissing with such passion, talent and professionalism. She will always be a welcome friend of Nipissing.”
Paine-Mantha, a native of North Bay, is looking forward to having more time available to reconnect with the community, focus on her professional development goals and spend more time with her family.
The university will soon strike a search committee for the next vice-president, finance and administration.
