SIFE-ENACTUS turns on the tap

Nipissing’s SIFE/ENACTUS team burst onto the scene last year with some memorable and effective campaigns, took home a Rookie of the Year Award and has now helped to quench the thirst the North Bay campus with a lasting physical presence, a water bottle filling station.Last year the, SIFE/ENACTUS team launched Project Back to the Tap, led by Kurt Tempelmans Plat. The initiative clearly identified the need to raise awareness on campus of bottled water consumption. The group identified the problem, created campus awareness, AND provided students, staff and faculty with a viable solution — a refillable water bobble equipped with a stylish filter. The partnership with Water Bobble Canada was born.
The SIFE/ENACTUS team also identified that it was difficult to effectively refill reusable containers on campus. The team shifted its focus to pitching a solution to the Nipissing University administration, to install water bottle refilling stations on campus. SIFE/ENACTUS also pledged to raise $500 for installation costs. Last week the team cut the ribbon on the first water bottle refilling station. And, the team has pledged to continue to raise money for additional refilling stations on campus.
"We are now witnessing the result of a successful collaborative effort,” said Diane Davis, faculty advisor for Nipissing’s SIFE/ENACTUS team.
