Artist grads opening show
Artists Amy Cook and Jaymie Lathem, two recent Nipissing University graduates, are exhibiting their recent work in a two-person show, opening Friday, May 17, at Line Gallery in North Bay. Cook and Lathem have chosen to centre their practices in drawing. Both artists have incorporated aspects of the natural environment in their work. Cook visually explores her experience of, and deep connection to, certain naturally occurring elements, while Lathem pursues the metaphorical potential of poisonous plants to speak to the less pleasant aspects of our human psychology and relationships.
The exhibition runs until May 25.
Line Gallery is located at 897 Main Street West in North Bay. It is dedicated to exhibiting and documenting contemporary Canadian drawing. The gallery exhibits emerging and established artists practicing in drawing and also supports artist talks and interviews, and maintains online records of the exhibitions with the goal of documenting Canadian drawing.
