Feminist art discussion at Nipissing

Nipissing’s department of Fine and Performing Arts are a hosting panel discussion on Feminist Art in Practice, led by artists, curators and activists Allyson Mitchell and Deirdre Logue on February 1, at 3:30 p.m. in room A224.

Mitchell and Logue have an extensive record of producing and exhibiting art domestically and internationally. In 2010, they started the Feminist Art Gallery (FAG) in their own backyard to help advocate for feminist art practices in Toronto. In their own words, the FAG is “a response, a process, a site, a protest, an outcry, an exhibition, a performance, an economy, a conceptual framework, a place and an opportunity.”

The panel discussion invites participants to engage in a conversation about the possibilities and potentials of feminist art practice for productive and political ends.
