Moir earns Citizenship Award
Congratulations to, Louise Moir, Nursing Technologist and Certified Health Care Simulationist Nipissing/Canadore collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program and Canadore’s Practical Nursing program, who recently received the prestigious SIM Citizenship Award.
The award pays tribute to Ontario simulationists who have made important contributions in the healthcare simulation field and who exemplify the values of SIM-one. It also honours those who have made outstanding contributions in education, teaching, creative professional activities and other endeavours that are difficult to capture and recognize in the traditional sense. This prestigious award celebrates collaboration-oriented, hard-working professionals who regularly go beyond the expectations of their assigned roles and responsibilities, to promote simulation, making a difference for students and colleagues.
“I am extremely honoured to be recognized by SIM-one and by my peers,” said Moir. “Much of the work I do is in collaboration with others, and for that, I am very grateful. I owe a huge thanks to my colleagues at Canadore, Nipissing and SIM-one for their dedicated hard work and unwavering support.”
Moir has been a nursing instructor for 14 years, and is a true believer in the intrinsic value of simulation in education. She feels that it better prepares university and college students by equipping them with the knowledge and resources they need on the job in real world settings.
The awards ceremony took place in Toronto, Ont. at the provincial SIM-one – Ontario Simulation Network Simulation Exposition and was sponsored by Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada.
