Mental Health Week and Clara Hughes

This week, May 5 -11 is Mental Health Week and the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) wants to know how you are really feeling. They are launching the first-ever Be Mind Full initiative and are asking Canucks: Are you fine or are you phine?Fine means saying you are fine when you are.  Phine means saying you are fine when you are not fine.  Too often people claim to be feeling fine when they do not. The result: approximately seven million Canadians — 20 per cent of the population — live with mental illness. And many do not seek treatment because of the stigma and discrimination associated with mental health problems.

Mental health is more than the absence of mental illness. It’s a state of well-being.
