NU Muskoka keeps on rocking the radio

Nipissing’s Muskoka campus continues on Hunters Bay Radio’s Campus Beat.
With a focus on Nipissing’s Muskoka Campus, the Campus Beat highlights everything that is going on in the higher education scene in the area.  The show also tackles education more generally, exploring what is happening at the secondary and elementary levels, and will look at education happening in the community.

Tune to 88.7 FM on Tuesdays at 3:05 p.m.

Coming up next week Campus Beat is starting a three part series on the theme Alternate Ways of Learning: The Body Tells a Story.

The first episode features Dr. Nick Bianchi of Bracebridge Chiropractic and Wellness Centre.  Dr. Bianchi will discuss how we often don't take the time to listen to what our body is telling us in relation to how we choose our diet and level of exercise during times of stress, like transitioning back into the academic year.

The second episode features Nipissing Muskoka graduate student Jennifer Stolpmann of Sunkosi Yoga. She will be talking about practices of mindfulness, meditation and gentle yoga as a way for students and faculty to deal with the stress of transitioning back into the new school year.

The third installment features Dr. Anne Wagner, Associate Professor at the Muskoka Campus.  She will be exploring the topic of embodied learning.   Dr. Wagner will be discussing her research regarding the significance of the body and our emotions in the process of learning. Too often we place an emphasis on the intellect, treating students and academics as disembodied heads.
