Entrepreneurial internship for Nipissing students and graduates
Nipissing University students interested in innovation and entrepreneurship can now take part in a 16-week paid internship through the Innovation Initiatives Ontario North’s Youth Entrepreneurship Placement Program (YEPP)
YEPP is a project-based entrepreneurial internship for current students and graduates.
The program involves experiential and educational learning within a local small to medium businesses, similar to a mentorship. During the program, entrepreneurs work with the students to share their business experiences and developments relating the practices back to business resiliency and survival.
Nipissing alumnae Emily Ryan, Bachelor of Business Administration Organizational Studies, and Anne Brûlé, Bachelor of Business Administration, are responsible for the management of the YEPP program. Their duties include the creation of the content, promotion of the program and administrative duties.
To perform these duties, Ryan and Brûlé have utilized resources available through the university.
“We’ve worked with professors within the School of Business to build content and to use their resources,” said Ryan. “Some professors have also allowed us to come and speak to their classes about IION and the program.”
This Friday, August 21, YEPP will be hosting its graduation ceremony in room A248 the small cafeteria. The event will celebrate the successes and accomplishments of the youth and recognize the companies involved that worked with the interns and mentored them.
The application process for YEPP will begin again in March 2016 for the Summer 2016 positions. Click here to apply.
