Students earn academic achievement medals
Nipissing University is proud to celebrate the academic achievements of its graduates with the President’s Gold Medal and the Governor General Silver Medal. Throughout the course of the convocation ceremonies, a total of 14 students will be presented with one of these awards for academic excellence and outstanding performance.
The President’s Gold Medal is awarded to full or part-time students that attain the highest academic average in all courses in that degree program. Students in a three-year program must have earned a minimum of 60 credits at Nipissing University and have an overall average of at least 80 percent.
The Governor General Silver Medal is awarded for academic excellence to the student graduating with the highest academic standing at the undergraduate level. Created in 1873 to encourage academic excellence across the nation, the Governor General's Academic Medals have become the most prestigious award for outstanding achievements that Canadian students can receive.
“Nipissing congratulates all of our award winning students,” said Dr. Harley d’Entremont, vice-president academic and research. “It is a significant accomplishment and a mark of distinction to earn such a high academic average. These are all remarkable students and individuals with a very bright future.”
