Dr. Sharpe earns Caring Canadian Award
Congratulations to Dr. Glen Sharpe, associate professor in the Schulich School of Education, who has been awarded the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award.
Dr. Sharpe earned the prestigious award in recognition of his contribution to his community.
The award was established by former Governor General Roméo LeBlanc to recognize individuals who volunteer their time to help others and to build a smart and caring nation.
Dr. Sharpe is a Mohawk of the Bay of Quinte and is actively involved with several Aboriginal Organizations, including INDSPIRE as a Teacher Mentor, Aboriginal Professionals Association of Canada and The Aboriginal Circle of Educators. He is a member of the Board of Directors with First Nations Technical Institute in Deseronto, Ontario. In 2012, Dr. Sharpe was awarded Nipissing University’s Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2015 he was awarded the Researcher/Curriculum Award with The Aboriginal Circle of Educators. The Aboriginal Professionals Association of Canada highlighted Dr. Sharpe’s work in their Recognizing Excellence Program in July of 2015.
