Excellent showing for NU at OUF
By all accounts the recent Ontario Universities Fair was a success, with interested students and parents connecting with Nipissing students, faculty and staff about all that Nipissing has to offer.
This year’s fair witnessed a record number of attendees, with nearly 136,000 people taking part over the course of the three-day event.
Nipissing’s booth attracted lots of positive attention with 1,310 prospective students signing up to receive more information on the university. For each interested student who signed up, Nipissing pledged to donate $1 to Breakfast for Learning, bringing the total current donation to $1,310.
“Nipissing definitely showed students who we are and what sets us apart. We excel at making personal connections and that was very apparent on the fair floor,” said Gemma Victor. “Thank you to all the students, staff and faculty who attended and who represented NU so well. I’ve already spoken to one family who wasn’t interested in Nipissing at first, but was convinced by the sense of community we offer; Nipissing is a the top of their list now.”
Victor noted there was a lot of interest in Nursing again this year, as well as Business and Life Sciences. There was healthy interest in Education as well, with Carole Richardson, Dean of the Schulich School of Education, giving a standing-room-only presentation.
Ken Steele posted a report from OUF for his Ten with Ken Eduvation vlog that features quite a few Nipissing cameos. Check it out here.
This year’s fair also saw the Council of Ontario Universities launch a new survey aimed at gathering information about how universities can help to build a stronger future for all Ontarians.
