NU Alum opening new art exhibit
Geoff Mayne, local artist and recent Nipissing University graduate, presents his first solo art exhibition at the Westlake Gallery, opening March 18, at 7 p.m. as part of North Bay’s Downtown Gallery Hop.
The exhibition, titled The Portrait Project, will run from March 18 – April 16, Monday to Friday noon - 3 pm, or by appointment.
“Over the past six months Geoff has been working hard creating an impressive collection of paintings for his upcoming show, said James Thorne, Westlake curator. “He approached the gallery with the goal of completing between 20 to 25 portraits for an exhibition. I had the opportunity to work in the artist's studio during a great length of the project, and I believe that he has surpassed his original goals. The show has come together with incredibly life-like, vibrant, portraiture.”
The Westlake Gallery, located at 374 Fraser Street in North Bay, is a non-profit art gallery, committed to the exhibition of emerging and local artists, and community engaged events. Check out their website, here.
