Award for Dr. McCullough
Congratulations to Dr. Karey McCullough, assistant professor and director in the school of nursing, on winning the Council of Ontario University Programs in Nursing (COUPN) 2017 Preceptor Recognition Award.
The award recognizes a preceptor who has demonstrated outstanding performance in her role as a preceptor for a nursing student. It publicly acknowledges the essential contributions that a nurse in a preceptor and/or mentor role makes to professional nursing education.
Fourth-year Nursing student Jacqueline Sharma nominated McCullough for the prestigious award.
“From a professional perspective, Dr. McCullough has equipped me with exceptional knowledge and leadership skills throughout my preceptorship that I will carry throughout my future endeavours. From a personal perspective, Dr. McCullough has been a mentor who I will always look up to and admire. She is one of the most approachable, compassionate, and intelligent individuals I have met during my time at Nipissing University,” wrote Sharma in her nomination letter.
Each year, COUPN celebrates achievements in university nursing education through its annual COUPN Awards program. In all, eight awards of excellence will be presented to students, nursing faculty and staff during a ceremony on May 2 in Toronto.
The awards, created in 2008, focus on four key areas: excellence in teaching, innovation in research, student excellence and partnership support.
