First Nations soldier discussing career in the Canadian Armed Forces
The Nipissing District Branch of the Canadian International Council (CIC) is pleased to present, "Aboriginal and Military Traditions Intertwined: The Canadian Forces career of WO Sheldon Quinn." This presentation will be made by Warrant Officer Sheldon Quinn on Tuesday February 14th, 2017, from 7 pm – 9 pm at Nipissing University in Room A224.Drawing on his thirty years of experience in the Canadian Army, WO Quinn will speak on life as a First Nations member of the Armed Forces and his tours in Afghanistan.
This event is free to CIC Members, members of the general public and students. It is open to all. Please register with the online registration system,here, before Tuesday February 14th, 2017, as seating is limited.
Warrant Officer (WO) Sheldon Quinn is a member of the 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry in Shilo (Manitoba). He is coming to Ontario to speak to a few different groups about his lengthy and diversified career in the CAF. His operational experiences include four tours in the former Yugoslavia, two tours in Afghanistan, and an instructor role with the Bold Eagle Program. WO Quinn possesses a vast knowledge of the long-standing history of the Canadian aboriginal community within our military. He will share his thoughts about how both his professional and personal lives have mutually informed one another throughout his career as a Canadian First Nations soldier.
