NU turns the big 25 - Silver anniversary party on November 30
Time to steam-clean your special silver sequined outfit; celebrations for Nipissing’s 25th Anniversary are kicking into high gear. There’s a big party on November 30, and everyone is invited.
The NU25 Birthday Celebration takes place at 2 p.m. on November 30 at the Robert J. Surtees Student Athletics Centre, providing a chance for the entire community to celebrate with Nipissing.
As part of the celebrations, the university will open the time capsule that was sealed in the wall in 1992 with strict instructions that it should not be opened until 2017.
Nipissing will also be providing the opportunity for guests to play a role in the new time capsule that will be sealed until 2042. The Birthday Celebration will feature a photo booth, with selected photos earmarked for the new time capsule. There will also be a guest book available for people to write messages in and sign; that guest book will be sealed in the time capsule for future parties to enjoy.
The university will be handing out engraved 25th Anniversary champagne flutes to all partygoers.
The Birthday Celebration will also feature special guest speakers, cupcakes, light refreshments and non-alcoholic champagne.
Nipissing received its charter as an independent degree granting institution on December 10, 1992. The university has hosted a number of events this year to mark its 25th anniversary, including a launch party, a spirit day, 25th anniversary branded cookie days, an open house, and a faculty speaker series.
The faculty speaker series, NU2042: Time Travellers Wanted, wraps up on December 7, with the fifth and final event at the Grande Event Centre.
