NU welcoming students
Thestart of a new school year is on the horizon and Nipissing is ready to welcome new and returning students to campus.
Residences will be rocking on move-in day Saturday, August 26, with students unloading all their stuff, friends getting reacquainted and future friends meeting for the very first time.
Laker Orientation events begin right away, with two-weeks worth of activities and events for all students, as well as some targeted to students living in residence and students who purchased a Frosh Kit. Planned events run the gamut from barbecues and beach days to note-taking workshops and a syllabus social. You can access a full schedule here.
Frosh Week launches on Tuesday, August 30, with the theme Last of the 90s. The Nipissing University Student Union has added social and educational modules to create a balanced week for the new students. After a fun and exhausting week of events like The Amazing Race, an on-campus scavenger hunt and the Muddy Olympics, students will head out to shine the city on Saturday, September 2, for the annual cystic fibrosis fundraiser, Shinerama. Look for Nipissing students out shining that day, and please give generously.
Tuesday, September 5, heralds the start of classes for students in the Faculty of Applied and Professional Studies and the Faculty of Arts and Science.
Students in the Schulich School of Education will be in schools around Ontario for their practicum September 5 – 11, allowing them the opportunity to discover the first week of school from the teacher’s perspective. They’ll be on campus for classes starting September 11.
