Homecoming 2018 is upon us

NU News - Homecoming 2018

Get out your noise makers, Homecoming Weekend 2018 has arrived!  Running September 21-23, it’s a weekend like no other, with students, staff, faculty, friends and alumni all celebrating their Nipissing spirit together.  You don’t want to miss it and the time to register is running out.

The festivities will kick off on Friday, September 21 at 11:30 a.m, with our turf field ribbon cutting ceremony. We will have free pizza for everyone (while it lasts) and pictures with Louie the Laker. In the evening, our Women’s Basketball team will take on Durham College at 6 p.m. and our Men’s Basketball team will battle Canadore College at 8 p.m. at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.  A new event, the Alumni/ Faculty mixer, takes place upstairs at the Raven & Republic at 8 p.m. for registered alumni, staff faculty and friends.

A full day of events starts Saturday at 9:30 a.m. with a guided campus tour followed by a guided trail walk at 11 a.m.  At noon you can enjoy the Homecoming BBQ out at the new turf field, while our Women’s Soccer team plays Ryerson at noon and Men’s Soccer takes on Ryerson at 2:15 p.m. Alumni volleyball matches start at 4 p.m. with the women up first, followed by the men at 6 p.m. The Lakers Lacrosse team hits the field versus Bishops at 6 p.m. Our BBQ will run from noon until 7 p.m. so make sure to fill up on hamburgers before the evening events get underway at Memorial Gardens. The Men’s Hockey team will battle University of Toronto at 7:30 p.m. The official after party will be held at The Boat. Don’t have a ride? No problem! Let our Homecoming shuttle service take you there.

The fun continues Sunday with our Women’s and Men’s Soccer teams taking on University of Toronto at noon and 2:15 p.m. respectively. The last game of the weekend takes place at 6 p.m. as Men’s Lacrosse clashes with Trent University.

Registration for Homecoming closes at noon on Thursday, September 20, and will not be accepted at the event.

Alumni, staff and faculty can register here. Students, watch for our Homecoming registration table in the Education Centre hallway or stop by F301, Advancement Office to register.
