Let’s put an end to racism
Help end racism by participating in the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD), March 21.
IDERD was established by the United Nations in 1966 to commemorate the Sharpeville Massacre of 1960. It is observed every March 21 to bring the world community together to increase its efforts in the elimination of all forms racial discrimination and racism.
Nipissing University is part of the local IDERD Committee dedicated to the elimination of racial discrimination and racism on our campus and within our community.
North Bay is the only community in Canada who has participated consistently in the celebration of IDERD and will continue doing so this year on March 21 with a culmination of events during the Night of Applause at Ecole secondary publique Odyssée.
The Nipissing community is encouraged to come forward and participate in activities to commemorate IDERD by submitting entries for the following:
Students Who Make a Difference: Do you know a student who has made a positive impact on the institution? Contributed to making their community more inclusive? Shared their time to help a fellow student?

Human Rights Hall of Fame: Seeking nominations for those who have shown leadership in human rights or anti-racism activities locally, regionally, nationally or internationally.
