Meet student leader Alyxis Watson
Nipissing students consistently impress as leaders, in the classroom, on campus and in the community. Recently the university celebrated 25 student leaders at the annual Dave Marshall Leadership Awards. Over the coming months, NU News will introduce each student leader to the wider community with a short article discussing their accomplishments and activities. Today, we are pleased to profile Alyxis Watson, who is working toward a Bachelor of Arts degree, with Honours in Criminal Justice, Criminal Justice Studies stream.
Watson has served the campus community as both a Residence Don and as a Community Advisor. Through these roles, she has worked to improve life on campus, by ensuring students feel safe and comfortable in their environment.
Watson has maintained a stellar academic record while combining a demanding work schedule and a full academic workload. She is a creative thinker who engages with critical concepts at a level well beyond her peers. She goes beyond the obvious to find interconnections between theoretical perspectives and lived experiences. Watson is a confident and self-assured student, who shows promise of scholarly excellence and will undoubtedly make a significant contribution at the graduate level. She is committed to the pursuit of knowledge.
Watson is ambitious, self-motivated, and is known on campus for her willingness to support and mentor other students. She is empathetic, compassionate, cares deeply about others, and is unwaveringly devoted to community services, with focus on the advancement of the welfare of the socially marginalized.
